Programme Note

This hour-long concert in the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London welcomes The Maidstone Singers with a varied and innovative programme exploring celestial themes, and divided into three sections, "Light", "Night" and "The Heavens". The programme includes English choral favourites such as Wood's Hail, gladdening light and Tallis's O nata lux, reworkings for choir of orchestral works by Elgar and Sibelius, two works by both American composer Bob Applebaum and Finnish composer Jussi Chydenius, Ola Gjeilo's popular contemporary choral work Northern Lights and some lighter offerings by Richard Rogers and Harold Arlen.
