In the first half, works spanning from the Baroque era, with Henry Purcell's Oh God, thou art my God, to the present day with several works by the choir's principal conductor and composer-in-residence, John Baird. In between, talented soloists will perform two of the most famous arias from Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, the charming Birdcatcher's Song and the dazzling display of vocal acrobatics that is The Queen of the Night's Aria. After the interval a chance to hear Brahms's best-loved and most performed choral work, the dramatic German Requiem, performed this evening in English.
