Programme Note
The Sussex Songmakers return to the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London with another innovative programme of music and poetry, and take us on a journey From Bach to Betjeman. The repertoire this evening is a real mix, and includes Fauré’s sublime Cantique de Jean Racine, Mozart’s sparkling Laudate Dominum, Hungarian and Spanish Songs, and songs, arias and duets by Bach, Binge, Mendelssohn, Quilter and Schubert, to name but a few. In between musical offerings, Nicholas Chisholm will perform some related poems, making this concert a true celebration of words and music, and bound to contain something for everyone. Accompaniment will be provided on the piano by Jennie Beckwith and on the violin by Katie Hoad-Hitchings and Lizzie Howard.
