Programme Note
The fantastic Choir of St Catharine's College, Cambridge, makes a welcome return to the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London. The centrepiece of this concert is Tallis's impassioned and soulful Lamentations, which will be heard alongside his intricate and enigmatic Miserere, and his famous tunes for Archbishop Parker, including the famous Canon. Joining the choir and its conductor Edward Wickham this evening will be special guest artist, David Goode, one of the world's leading concert organists. He will perform two of Bach's best-loved works, including the epic Toccata and Fugue in D minor, as well as accompanying his own composition, Anthem for St Catharine's Day, specially written for the choir. The programme also includes works from the choir's new album of music from the French Reformation.
Join us in the splendid acoustic and beautiful surroundings of Temple Church for this fascinatingly varied programme sung by one of Cambridge University's finest chapel choirs.
