In the first half, vocal ensemble Rubythroat, directed by Linda Hirst, perform a programme of British choral music, including three contrasting settings of When David Heard, and favourite works for choir by Vaughan Williams and Britten. After the interval the Chamber Choir join in the worldwide celebrations of the 90th birthday of remarkable Scottish-American composer Thea Musgrave. Her strong sense of drama and rich musical language have made Musgrave one of the most respected composers working today. Stephen Jackson conducts some of her most notable choral works, including Rorate Coeli, with an organ interlude Lobet den Herrn performed by Richard Gowers. For more information please click here.
