Programme Note

The year of the first Proms concerts, 1895, was a critical one for Oscar Wilde. His plays The Importance of Being Earnest and An Ideal Husband were first performed and he underwent three trials in the High Court. Philip Hoare, author of Oscar Wilde’s Last Stand, explores this tumultuous year.

No ticket required. Entry is on a first-come first-served basis (doors open 30 minutes before the event begins; capacity is limited)
