Associate Music Director of the festival Rupert Gough conducts Rachmaninov's remarkable work for unaccompanied choir, The Vespers, with its evocative chant-like melodies and famous low bass writing. Rather than burning the incense of the Russian Orthodox church this performance will be sung by candlelight in the beautiful surroundings of St Martin-in-the-Fields, the festival's base. This concert will last approximately one hour without an interval. A reduced price combined ticket is available for this concert and the later concert at St Martin's.
