Programme Note

The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London 2017 Spring Series continues with this light-hearted programme from the Billingshurst Choral Society and conductor Cathal Garvey. In the first half expect to be entertained by the finest of Gilbert and Sullivan's choruses from operettas including The Gondoliers, The Mikado and HMS Pinafore. After the interval, popular songs from the Golden Age of twentieth century films and musicals, by composers such as George Gershwin, Fats Waller, Jerome Kern and Harold Arlen, who wrote the beautiful song of the title, Somewhere over the Rainbow.
